midterm.. nati and brenda

                            Enforcing dress code
Enforcing dress code has been a major issue at metro. We wanted to find out why it's such a big topic in our school. We went around taking a survey with administrators and students [ which will remain annonymous], to ask some questions to help us get to the bottom of this.

I will start with the students we interviewed.
Q: What's your personal opinion about the uniform and do you like them?
       Answers
Student 1: "I hate the uniform, it makes me look like a cartoon character"
Student 2: " It's easier having a uniform so that we dont have to look for business casual"
Student 3: "It's ok"
Student 4: " I dont like the uniform"
Q: What do your parents think about the uniform?
      Answers
Student 1: "They dont care"
Student 2 : " My mom doesnt care because she doesnt have to waste money on uniforms"
Student 3: " My parents love the uniform"
Student 4: " My mom loves the uniform"
Q: What do you think about the punishment if you don't wear the uniform?
      Answers
Student 1: " It's dumb"
Student 2: "It's taking time out of class just to go get a shirt from the office."
Student3: " It's  riddiculous"
Student4: "I think it's riddiculous"

Now these are the questions we asked  some teachers. They to will remain annonymous.

Q: Do you write students up if they don't have the uniform on?
     Answers
Teacher 1 : " No"
Teacher 2: "No"
Teacher 3: " No, I just talk to them"
Q: Do you care if they wear it or not?
    Answers
Teacher 1: "Yes"
Teacher 2: " No"
Teacher 3: " Yes"
Q: What's your opinion on the dress code?
      Answers
Teacher 1:" It's a great idea"
Teacher 2: " It's not important to me, so i'm not going to enforce it"
Teacher 3: " It's a good thing, students cant judge other students on how they dress"

And now for the main interview, we interviewed the principle herself.

Q: How do you plan on making your students wear the uniform?
A: "Well, i'm working on having an administrative intern, named Dr. Parish, come help enforce the dress code. This will be on January 30."
Q: Why did you decide to make uniforms?
A: " Actually, I met with the PTO and they wanted to make sure the students had a stroong dress code. The PTO and the parents requested uniform because they weren't sure what business casual was. All i did was agree."
Q:Have you gotten any personal feedback on the uniforms?
A:"Yes, i've had parents upset whhen they see kids out of uniform."
Q:What's the punishment for students who don't wear them?
A: "It's not a punishment. We will just have the students put on the uniform. Actually the punuisment will not make people change their mind about wearing the unifrom. And truth be told, I don't want to punish the students i just want them to wear the uniform.

So, out of the whole interview, the main piont is to get you to understand that students come to school to learn. They don't care about the uniform. But they need to understand, that when you go to a school that has dress code as a requierment you have to follow it. Whether you like it or not. A majority of students that we interviewed had no problem with the uniform. They agreed to wear it if they had different colors, or different styles. But  it all comes down to learning. What school is for.

death pentalty....??? or no death penalty?

well.. death penalty is suppossed to be a punishment for those who commit a crime. i also see it as an example for those who want to commit a crime. the question is wether i agree with it or not. truth be told, you can show me amillion reasons why its ok and why its legal, but i still wont give you a straight answer. i have many reasons why i agree with it, but honestly i dont think people should be killed. but i dont make the laws so :] enjoy
